HHSA Meeting Recap - September
I. Thank you to all who attended our first full association meeting of the HHSA Wednesday night. Mr. Albano and Dr. McDonald were both present and addressed our members demonstrating their desire to keep the lines of communication open between the administration and the parents of Haworth.
II. Certificates of appreciation and honorary HHSA memberships for 2008-2009, were awarded to Stacey Poosikian and Christie Maniscalco, for their selfless devotion to the children and families of the Haworth School d uring their tenure as Co-Presidents.
III. The 501 (c) 3 initiative passed unanimously, and the HHSA will now begin the process of incorporation in order to file for tax-exempt status. Please know that any charitable contributions you may make to our association or have made since July 1st, 2008, will be eligible for a retroactive tax deduction, pending the approval of our application for 501 (c) 3 status. This process is expected to take anywhere from two to three months.
IV. We would also like to thank Linda Crosnier and Melanie Anagnos for preparing a proposal for a new Cultural Committee. The idea for the proposed Cultural Committee was a response to a desire as expressed by several parents in our association, to provide for our children further exposure to the fine arts. As this proposal was brought up at the end of the meeting, we ran out of time for discussion, but wish to continue discussing it at the next meeting in order to take a vote. In the interim, Mr. Albano has offered to help us clarify what the parameters of a committee such as this would be, and how it should be structured. Every great idea s tarts with a discussion, so thank you again Linda and Melanie for responding to our members, for opening up the dialogue of this very worthy cause, and for volunteering your time!
We hope to see you all at our next full association meeting to discuss this and other important issues.
Sincerely,
Rebekah Zelman, HHSA President
