WHAT IS SCRIP?
And how can it help our kids!
Dear Haworth School Community Member,
In these challenging economic times, the Haworth Home and School Association is looking to raise funds to provide various services to our children while providing a cost effective product to our Haworth School Community Members. Scrip does just that and it does so without asking anyone to give a penny!
So, what is it?
It’s gift cards from local grocery stores and big name retailers. Here’s how it works. You buy a gift card from the HHSA Scrip Program and the HHSA gets a percentage. You are earning money for the HHSA without spending a single additional penny. You pay $100 for a $100 gift card – and on average the HHSA get $5. The HHSA Scrip Program offers two ways to buy scrip: monthly Grocery Scrip and Holiday Scrip.
Monthly Grocery Scrip
Grocery Scrip gives 4% of your purchase back to the schools. A&P, Shoprite, Stop & Shop and Pathmark all participate in HHSA’s Scrip program. If you purchase $200 of grocery gift cards a month, for 10 months, the schools will receive $80. If 100 families in Haworth do this, the schools will receive $8,000. If 300 families do this, the schools will receive $24,000! We could be contributing $24,000 a year to our kids without selling anything. HHSA families can make a difference by making regular household purchases they would make anyway using scrip. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip.

Holiday Scrip - Holiday Scrip order forms are offered two times a year (December and Spring) and highlights many popular stores including: Best Buy, Pottery Barn, Amazon, Dunkin’ Donuts, Starbucks, J. Crew, Gap, CVS, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Barnes & Noble, Container Store and many, many more! The percentages given to the school for these retailers are generally much higher, up to 25%. These make great gifts for teachers, babysitters and friends and family. These cards can be added to monthly orders via our online www.shopwithscrip.com ordering system.
